Game Overview

"A Mystery Woven into the Streets of Hakata."

Story

July 2025, summer in Fukuoka.
Kengo Kamiya, a former police detective, has finally opened his long-awaited private detective agency near Hakata Station, alongside his assistant, Hikaru Omuta.
Soon after, their very first client walks through the door.

"My daughter—Saki—has gone missing. Please find Saki."

On the day of the closing ceremony marking the start of summer vacation, a high school girl vanished without a trace. The police, viewing it as a voluntary runaway case with no signs of foul play, took a wait-and-see approach.
But as detective Kamiya digs deeper into the investigation, unsettling rumors and mysterious online videos begin to surface, changing everything.

Featuring photographic backdrops captured on the real streets of Fukuoka combined with AI image generation.
From conducting inquiries at Hakata's tonkotsu ramen stalls to confronting high school girls at Ohori Park and Kego Park, the story unfolds across the authentic backdrop of Fukuoka.

Our mismatched duo of a detective and his assistant will trade witty banter as they navigate web rumors and human greed to chase down the truth of the disappearance.

Character Profiles

  • Kengo Kamiya: The protagonist and head of the Kamiya Detective Agency. A 29-year-old former police detective. Equipped with sharp observation skills and logical reasoning, though his detective business is currently dead quiet. Quite handsome.
  • Hikaru Omuta: Kamiya's assistant. A 19-year-old ordinary girl with zero previous work experience since graduating high school, possessing only a moderate knowledge of gaming and internet culture. Though her stats as a detective's assistant are modest, her affection for Kamiya is straightforward and she makes no effort to hide it. Stands 140cm tall (self-proclaimed).
  • Saki Namihana: The 17-year-old high school girl who went missing. She had turned into a "gyaru" and her social circle changed dramatically starting a year ago. On the day of the closing ceremony right before summer break, she disappeared.

Photoreal Novel style

This game uses photographs taken on-location in actual spots across Fukuoka—such as Ohori Park, Tenjin, and Nakasu—for parts of its backgrounds. Furthermore, the vast majority of our production process leverages AI technology.
By combining on-location real-world photography and AI image generation to craft a photographic aesthetic, we present our work under a unique genre: "Photoreal Novel."

System & Worldview

There are no complex systems or exploration elements; it is a pure visual novel progressing solely through text and choices. Your deductions will determine which of the several endings you reach.
It’s an entertaining mystery where you can enjoy the realistic atmosphere of Fukuoka, Japanese internet culture, witty banter between the characters, youth, and unpredictable plot twists.

Kamiya at Ohori Park

Note: This game is a mystery visual novel set in modern-day, realistic Fukuoka. There are no supernatural, occult, or sci-fi elements. There is no heavy suspense, grotesque imagery, or jump scares, so even those who dislike horror can safely enjoy it as a mystery. (However, it does contain sexual humor and references to drinking, so we have voluntarily rated it "17+".)

Note: The game footage and UI shown in this article are currently in development and may differ from the final release version.

Production Structure

The developer, "Sakura ARC," is a solo, zero-programming creator with zero followers, zero industry recognition, and completely self-taught IT background. With no previous professional portfolio, they are a completely independent developer whose past experience was merely uploading gameplay videos to YouTube.

This absolute amateur is single-handedly creating this game by having Google's AI agent "Antigravity" directly handle (code) the visual novel engine "Ren'Py."

While the core ideas and plot are entirely human-derived, the scenario was refined through bouncing ideas off the AI. Furthermore, we are challenging a "new form of creation" by fully utilizing AI technology for character graphics, backgrounds, BGM, sound effects, programming, multilingual translation, and website building.

You can read about the journey of co-creation with the AI agent since the start of development, the "production manifesto" born from it, and records of our technical challenges in past articles on this blog. If you are interested in the real behind-the-scenes of new personal game development using AI, please take a look.
